Sifnos, is known for its rich culinary tradition and offers several delicious local dishes. Some of the most popular ones include:
- Revithada: A traditional chickpea stew cooked in a clay pot in a wood-fired oven for about 10h. It often includes onions, olive oil and bay leaves, creating a flavorful and hearty dish.
- Mastello (Easter Goat or Lamb Stew): This is a slow-cooked lamb or goat dish, typically cooked in a sealed clay pot with red wine and dill, in a wood-fired oven. The result is tender, succulent meat with a rich flavor.
- Kaparosalata: Labelled a salad but more like a dip, kaparosalata is made from the caper plants that grow wild all over Sifnos. It's made with capers, caramelized onions and herbs, and it's often served with bread.
- Revithokeftedes (Fried Chickpea Balls): These chickpea croquettes are made from chickpeas, boiled potatoes, onions and fresh herbs (usually marjoram, parsley, dill and sometimes fresh mint)
